In 1977, the National College Entrance Examination, widely known as the Gaokao, was resumed. The 1977 and 1978 freshmen of Tsing Hua University were enrolled in February and October of 1978 respectively. Tsing Hua University successively resumed the work of the teaching and research groups of different departments, established a faculty and a committee to strengthen the foundational courses. It also gradually launched more courses for undergraduates of Sciences, Arts and Management facilities. Its scientific research also quickly returned to normal and the university was once again full of vitality.
